When it was purchased by PepsiCo, the company was able to find a target clientele, creating its logo accordingly. In conclusion, Mountain Dew has been able to both adapt and stand out. Do not forget to use it on packaging, such as bottles, when it is relevant. This may be relevant to you if you are launching a new product or service. This will allow you to meet different needs. Therefore, feel free to have different versions of your logo. The company was not afraid to create different versions of its logo and beverage for various commercial reasons, and regardless of the change, we still recognized it. Then, we should mention that Mountain Dew was able to adapt to the need. As PepsiCo wanted to reach a younger clientele, it was a good idea to stand out. Complementary colors, since there is a great contrast, have the particularity of easily attracting attention. Mountain Dew boldly chose complementary colors, green and red. The Mountain Dew logo can certainly be an inspiration when creating your brand image. How to be inspirated from Mountain Dew drinks and branding to create your logo While the Mountain Dew Voltage was in blue, red, and white. For example, Mountain Dew Code Red used black, white, and red. There were several versions with different color palettes. It is also important to note that the Mountain Dew logo was changed during various advertising campaigns to promote new flavors. Black has the particularity of bringing out other colors. Then, in 2017, the outline was changed to black. ![]() Green, red, white and lime green were then used. It is, therefore, common to see the brand be named Mtn Dew. Mountain was replaced by MTN, an abbreviation. The fisheye effect was removed, as well as the lines around the logo. How many times have we written that one of the most important trends of the moment was minimalism? During redesigns, several companies have opted for simpler versions of their logo. This version is still used today in some countries. They played with the letters to create an effect of a fisheye type. Remember, this was a time when the tribal tattoos were fashionable. They accentuated the serifs around the logo with a yellow color this time. A green shadow surrounded the logo and another font with slight serifs was chosen. Curves were removed for well-defined lines. It was to some extent a continuation of the logo of recent decades. In 1998, a new Mountain Dew logo was born. There would then be minor redesigns of the logo in 1980, 19. The name of the drink was no longer presented only on a single line, but on two to make it more dynamic. They played with the curves and the spacing of the letters. ![]() At the dawn of the 70s, the company bet on a younger brand image thanks to a new logo that was both simple and a little psychedelic. The evolution of Mountain Dew logo designs Why did the Mtn Dew logo change?Īs was the case with Pepsi's branding, Mountain Dew has had several logo redesigns during its existence. Back then, green, a shade reminiscent of nature, and white were used. Mountain Dew's original logo was then a signature logo – a logo consisting only of the company name in a sans-serif font. What did the first Mountain Dew logo look like? Before the company was purchased by PepsiCo, the brand image revolved around the theme of moonshine and the rural side of the central United States. What was the original logo of Mountain Dew? Who doesn't remember the strange Puppy Monkey Baby advertisement from the 2016 Super Bowl? Over the years, there have been numerous advertising campaigns to promote the brand and variants of its original recipe. With its electric green color, citrus taste and high caffeine content, Mountain Dew was the 4th most consumed carbonated soft drink in the United States in 2010. The company wanted to target a younger clientele. Seeing the great potential of this beverage, PepsiCo then changed the entire brand image. In 1964, after negotiations with Coca-Cola, it was finally the multinational PepsiCo that got its hands on the rights to Mountain Dew. At that time, the company's brand image was quite different from what we know today. Mountain Dew was also another name given to moonshine – a bootlegged alcohol made from grain. Mountain Dew was originally created because people in the Knoxville area of the United States had difficulty finding sodas that could be mixed with alcohol. In 1948, this beverage was officially launched. A few words about Mountain Dew Where was Mountain Dew invented? Who owns this brand?īefore we begin our analysis, let's mention the history of Mountain Dew. ![]() ![]() The PM&R Residency at Unity Hospital prepares you to provide optimal diagnostic and rehabilitative care through a diverse clinical experience. Import greenfoot.* // (World, Actor, GreenfootImage, Greenfoot and MouseInfo) ![]() This does bring me back to the earlier point though, of why the policy on service dogs only isn’t enforced better? You can read a report of the incident on the LA CBS Local website.Īccording to subsequent press reports I read, Lowes was sued although I don’t know how the lawsuit ended. The bites were extremely serious, resulting in the young child having 50 stitches. In 2014, a dog owner was arrested after his pet Akita attacked a toddler in the Murrieta branch of Lowes in Canada. Surely there are insurance and liability issues at stake? For example, if a dog was to bite or attack someone in store, Lowes could be in big trouble. You might then wonder why there is such a lax attitude towards dogs being allowed in Lowes. The bottom line is that you should really call ahead to find out whether your local Lowes allows dog in, as it will be a management decision. Call ahead to see if dogs are allowed in your local Lowes store. There is no up to date list of which stores are more pet friendly than others. Lowes is pet friendly depending on where you are ![]() For 30 minutes customers were running carts all through it!”Īs you can see, many Lowes are very dog friendly, and it appears that not many of them will enforce the service dog policy. It’s not always that great though, last Easter a dog messed in the drywall aisle and it wasn’t reported and cleaned up. “Colleagues of mine actually carry little bags of doggie treats in their aprons. I don’t get paid enough anyway to get into an argument with people so just wave them on through.” “I heard a rumor that team leaders say its way too much hassle to ask everyone with a dog if it’s got service dog documentation. The one I work in does not enforce the service dog rules and in fact I was explicitly told to not even ask when greeting people at the door.” “Lowes is dog friendly depending on what the management team decide for the particular store location. My manager never told me any different, and we would never ask a dog owner to leave unless their dog was being bad.” “I worked in in my local store one summer and just assumed that Lowes allow dogs. Here’s what they told me in private messages on social media. ![]() So, why is the dog policy so confusing and applied differently from store to store? To find out, I spoke with some past and present employees to find out why the Lowes dog friendly policy is different depending on where you are. Lowes pet policy is not always enforced by management You might now be quite confused because I am sure you’ve seen lots spoken to people who have said they take their dog into Lowes or seen puppies and pooches in the aisles when you visit.Īnd you can bet your bottom dollar that many of the dogs you see in the store aren’t certified service dogs. Dogs are allowed in Lowes providing they are genuine service dogs only, leashed, kept under control, and cleaned up afterwards.” Lowes dog policyĪn employee of the home improvement store told me the official policy was something like this with regards to any pet. However, many stores and employees have a relaxed attitude towards customers that take a dog into Lowes, rarely asking for proof that the dog is for service or disability support purposes. Here’s what I discovered about bringing dogs into Lowes.ĭoes Lowes allow dogs? The official Lowes dog policy states that only service dogs are allowed in the stores. To help get to the bottom of what the Lowes pet policy is, I spoke to some of their employees on Twitter and what I heard was actually quite surprising. You might have heard that Lowes is dog friendly, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you can take your pet inside… the truth is a bit more complicated. However, with many stores in the US this isn’t always the case, with some being very dog friendly. As dog owners, we tend to assume that we can’t take our dogs into stores and need to keep them tethered up outside. ![]() I had hoped to also use it (Captivate) to output PowerPoints into Flash SWF files too. Actually, there's probably not a total e-learning solution from anyone.Ĭaptivate and Articulate are probably better suited for software simulations and branching scenarios. But the way I see it, TechSmith's products are not designed to be a total e-learning solution, but rather a part of a complete solution: the screen capturing portion. In fact programmers from Captivate have migrated to Articulate I'm told by someone at Articulate. The way I see it, Captivate's main competitor is Articulate and perhaps a nod to TechSmith's products SnagIt and Camtasia. I like their products and workflow and integration, etc. I'm an Adobe fan-boy - I have the Creative Suite CS2 (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, ImageReady) I have Acrobat Standard I have Premiere Pro 2.0 and Captivate 3. You should check out this blog ( ) and see if you start drooling over Articulate's products instead of the Adobe lust that most of us suffer. So I would recommend looking for another application other than Captivate 3 for your full motion video screen captures. When you want to add in captions or buttons later, you have to copy/paste them from slide to slide until you reach your desired duration. Rather than displaying the entire capture in a single long timeline, you get several slides, each with its own short timeline. This in itself doesn't seem to be a problem, but it is when you want to edit your captured video. My complaint about full motion video captures with Captivate 3 is that it captures by creating several small packets of full motion video. I might agree with this statement (but I haven't any experience with Camtasia). You were told video should be captured in Camtasia, but flash quizzes and post production should be finalized in Captivate. I can say that for full motion video capture, Captivate 3 may work for you, but I feel it is less than stellar in this particular function. I have not used Camtasia, but I do use Captivate 3. ![]() A consumate detail freak and with a vast knowledge of the engineering of the time, Verne described the Nautilus in such exacting detail that it was easy to take his notes and translate them into a set of engineering blueprints for a version of the Nautilus. So how could something new be designed that did not overly resemble a previous design? I thought the best way to tackle such a task was to reach back to the original description Jules Verne gave for the Nautilus. Since the original novel was released in 1870, there have been hundreds of design interpretations of the Nautilus over the years, all unique and wonderful in their own imaginative way. These amenities however, are only available to Nemo, Professor Aronnax, and his companions.įrom her attacks on ships, using a ramming prow to puncture target vessels below the waterline, the world thinks it a sea monster, but later identifies it as an underwater vessel capable of great destructive power, after the Abraham Lincoln is attacked and Ned Land strikes the metallic surface of the Nautilus with his harpoon. By comparison, Nemo’s personal quarters are very sparsely furnished, but do feature duplicates of the bridge instruments, so that the captain can keep track of the vessel without being present on the bridge. The Nautilus also features a lavish dining room and even an organ that Captain Nemo uses to entertain himself in the evening. These include a library with boxed collections of valuable oceanic specimens that are unknown to science at the time, expensive paintings, and several collections of jewels. Much of the ship is decorated to standards of luxury that are unequalled in a seagoing vessel of the time. Its maximum dive time is around five days. The Nautilus is capable of extended voyages without refuelling or otherwise restocking supplies. The Nautilus is not able to refresh its air supply, so Captain Nemo designed to do it by surfacing and exchanging stale air for fresh, much like a whale. The Nautilus includes a galley for preparing these foods, which includes a machine that makes drinking water from seawater through distillation. The Nautilus supports a crew that gathers and farms food from the sea. To submerge deeply in a short time, Nautilus uses a technique called “hydroplaning”, in which the vessel dives down at a steep angle. This leads many early observers of the Nautilus to believe that the vessel is some species of whale, or perhaps a sea monster not yet known to science. ![]() The pumps that evacuate these tanks of water are so powerful that they produce large jets of water when the vessel emerges rapidly from the surface of the water. The Nautilus uses floodable tanks in order to adjust buoyancy and so control its depth. Its area measures 1011.45 square metres and its contents 1,500.2 cubic metres that is to say, when completely immersed it displaces 1500.2 cubic metres of water, or 1500.2 metric tons. ![]() ![]() These two dimensions enable you to obtain by a simple calculation the surface and cubic contents of the Nautilus. It is not built on a ratio of ten to one like your long-voyage steamers, but its lines are sufficiently long, and its curves prolonged enough, to allow the water to slide off easily, and oppose no obstacle to its passage. The length of this cylinder, from stem to stern, is exactly 70 m, and its maximum breadth is eight metres. It is very like a cigar in shape, a shape already adopted in London in several constructions of the same sort. It is an elongated cylinder with conical ends. Aronnax, are the several dimensions of the boat you are in. Demo brought all the parts separately to the island, then had them assembled to complete the final vessel. Its displacement is 1,356.48 French freight tons emerged (1,507 submerged) or 50,000 cubic feet.Ĭonstructed on a remote desert island by Nemo and his faithful team, parts were built to order in France, the United Kingdom, Prussia, Sweden, the United States, and elsewhere. The Nautilus is double-hulled, and is further separated into water-tight compartments. Before penning Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Seas, Jules Verne studied a model of the newly developed French Navy submarine “Plongeur” at the 1867 Exposition Universelle, which inspired him to design his own Nautilus.ĭesigned and commanded by Captain Nemo, the vessel is powered by electricity provided by sodium/mercury batteries (with sodium extracted from seawater) that power the main engine and the other services aboard, such as lighting and equipment. Verne named the Nautilus after Robert Fulton’s real-life submarine Nautilus from 1800. The main character in the novel is the one that says nothing, yet it lives and breathes like the living organisms that it contains The Nautilus. ![]()
